Race your office chair

One of the largest growing sports in Germany is not football, basketball, baseball or anything like that. In actual fact it is racing office seating. Hundreds of people gathered around a major town in Germany called, Frankfurt to come and watch the events unfold. Naturally, they all where safety gear like helmets and knee pads and things like that to keep them safe when they race down very steep hills in the German suburbs. People can use any form of transport from office seating to a stool with wheels, as long as it is a chair! The idea of the race is to get to the bottom of the hill the quickest and in one piece. It sounds rather simple but it is a lot harder than it actually sounds, many people concede a few bruises and cuts in a wild attempt to try and finish the race. The winner gets 5,000 euros given to them for free plus an abundance of free champagne and wine. The whole event is considered as some what of an important event in the calendar for many residence in Germany and is taken quite seriously.

Last year, a man named, Hans Muller won the championship for the town’s fastest office chair racer and he donated his winnings to a local charity which is quite a regular occurrence for the competition winners. On the whole it is a great opportunity for people to go and have some fun, drink some beer and have some great food. All in all this is a nice event for people to all mix in with their families and enjoy socialising with the community.

I think we should start getting a league of our own going in England for office chair racing as it has got to be some great fun!
