New art exhibition gets people to bring their own furniture
A new type of art show is being arranged in Greenwich gallery on July 26th next year. The art show will be hosting Sit-in, a chance for artists of any level to show off their work. In a novel twist on conventional exhibitions, photographers will be asked to hold up their work, meaning that they may wish to get comfy.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that you should go out there and buy office furniture and bring it down or even bring in your executive office seating in from your work. Instead the gallery is recommending that people bring in their own blankets or benches to the event which only lasts half an hour.
After the actual event has finished the artists will be given the chance to mix ideas and swap photos with eachother in a bid to help the local art community.
This is a very unique opportunity for aspiring designers and artists alike to show off their work in a large art gallery for absolutely nothing! Normally, getting your work to feature in a gallery like this is very difficult indeed as there is a lot of red tape to cross. It really is a great chance for some people.
Louise Forrester, curator of the gallery, said: “We have no idea what to expect on the day because we have never done anything like this before”. Hopefully, there will be a wide variety of art from people of all ages as well as a wide and diverse range of furniture being used for photographers to sit on.
It is important to remember that the show is not solely focused on office seating but the art that people are mixing with each other.Normally, this level of interaction brings out the best in some young artists and is a great opportunity for people to mingle with eachtother.
